Welcome to Bransford Golf Club…
As a proprietary club, many aspects are run by the Golf Management team. These include course maintenance and development, membership terms and conditions and rates and day to day running of the Pro Shop and Clubhouse.
A Club Committee, made up of members of the Club, are responsible for the running of Competitions and the management of member’s handicaps. Details of competitions are on the noticeboard, as is a list of current member handicaps.
A Club Captain is appointed each year at the AGM and is the focus during their year for charitable and other events such as the annual Presentation Evening in November, where major competitions prizes are presented.
This year’s Captain is Mark Tipton and his chosen charity is Help for Heroes. Among other events, there is a raffle running throughout the year to win the Seve Ballesteros portrait which is on display in the bar.
In addition to Competitions and Handicaps, the Club runs teams which participate in local leagues, and encourage members to support and participate in County competitions and events.
Members can find additional information on competitions, matches and social events on the Bransford Golf Club Members Facebook page.
Handicaps & Competitions
To obtain a handicap, 3 cards (signed by a member with a handicap) should be submitted. The cards can be from standalone/social rounds, or can be from competition rounds.
Entry to Competitions is via a sign up sheet on the clubhouse noticeboard. The majority of competitions are drawn, and the draw published on the noticeboard in advance of the competition.
Members without a handicap (or one that has lapsed) can enter the competition but cannot win. Their score will be used to allocate or reinstate their handicap to “competition” status.
Our friendly Ladies Section meets each Wednesday morning and play all formats of the game, including team fun games. Mixed competitive golf is also enjoyed at weekends and Mondays, alongside the men’s and senior’s sections. The ladies also play several friendly matches against local clubs and visit various other courses around the area, playing at Open competitions, which are not only great fun, but a good way to meet other lady golfers.
The Bransford Seniors section is quite a thriving community with around 90 men and women in the group. The age range is from 55 to just over 80 years and there is always plenty of friendly rivalry and banter – both in the Clubhouse and out on the course.
Each month the section holds Medal and Stableford competitions and usually, throughout the summer months, these are split into three divisions covering the golfers’ varying abilities. There are also numerous major trophy events and a fairly regular Friday roll-up competition. The section also takes part in team matches against other clubs – with around 30 in the summer, as well as competing in a Winter League.
The section’s current captain is Rob Blake.
