After many months or even years of planning, your wedding day is likely to go by in a flash. Which is why having a good photographer capturing the magical memories of your day is an absolute must. But, while you know you must capture the beautiful ceremony, the emotional speeches and the evening celebrations, there’s one element of the day you must not forget – the pre-wedding photos.
It can be a really special time for the bride and her bridesmaids, family and friends. Moments of emotion, laughter and everything else in between all should be encapsulated.
We got together with some of our favourite wedding suppliers in our Penthouse Suite to recreate some of the must-take pre-wedding photos for you and your photographer to capture.
The Night Before
If your wedding is at the Bank House, you have the option of also using our Penthouse Suite the night before. But whether you’re staying at the venue of your wedding the night before or not, make sure you capture these moments. It’s likely you won’t have a professional photographer, but that’s what selfies are for.
If you’re nervous or excited, it doesn’t really matter. The chances are the day is going to fly by and some bits might be a blur. These photographs will help relive the moments.
Setting the Scene
A room like our Penthouse offers many amazing photo opportunities. Let your photographer have the freedom they need and make the most of their creative eye.
Want to remember that feeling when you saw your wedding dress for the first time? Pin it up and snap it. Don’t forget your bridesmaids’ dresses too…
Professional photographers are great at capturing your wedding accessories in clever ways. Let them take your shoes, jewellery, flowers etc. before you need them or pose while you’re putting them on.
All Made Up
It’s all part of the process so don’t forget to picture it. You will no doubt have given your professional photographer free reign by now and they’ll know what to do. But if you as a bride are quite particular, make a list of some the shots you really want them to capture.
Style It Out
The hair styling photos will naturally follow on from your make-up shots. These might be the last photos you get before putting your dress on.
It goes without saying really but it’s important to take a few moments to just sit and pose. You might feel awkward doing it at the time, but it’ll be worth it for years to come. Our Penthouse Suite has some amazing places for exactly this – a stylish full-length mirror in the dressing room, an elegant sofa, a stunning and spacious master bedroom just to name a few.
The First Glimpse
In the heat of the moment, you might not remember what your Bridesmaids’ reaction was. Don’t just rush in after getting dressed, make sure your photographer is with you to capture it.
An Absolute ‘Shoe’-In
Nobody else is likely to see them underneath your wedding dress, but they’re as stunning as your dress, right?
You choose the venue, your bridesmaids and everything else to do with your special day for a reason. Express yourself and show them all off in your photos. Using a photographer who knows the venue always helps with this as they’ve no doubt spent time exploring and finding those more unique angles. And as shown here, the bath in our Penthouse Master Bedroom doesn’t have to be used for just bathing!
Before The Big Un-‘Veil’-ing
Your Bridesmaids will likely help with this, and it makes a perfect finishing touch photo.
They form such a huge part of your day so don’t forget to include them in as many photographs as you can. Plus, they generally add the colour theme to your beautiful dress.
So, you’re looking gorgeous, the scene is set… now it’s time to get hitched!
As a wedding venue with vast experience of capturing our brides’ and grooms’ big days, we caught up with Clive of Clive Blair Photography, who took these amazing shots, for a final word of advice. He said: “Pre-wedding photos can be a lot of fun and they are a fantastic way of capturing the moments of the day not many people see.
“I always aim to represent the essence of the bride and her bridesmaids and the Bank House’s Penthouse Suite is one of best for doing exactly that.
“One piece of advice I always give is that it’s worth taking some time beforehand to really think about what you want and make a list. I’ll always have a chat with the couples getting married before the day itself and we can bounce lots of ideas around. But it’s your day and your memories for years to come and I want to capture those moments in the best way possible.”
