Christmas Traditions We Couldn’t Be Without

Christmas is a special time of year where we can put our hectic lives on hold and take a moment to appreciate what we have. It’s rare we are granted such a privilege and being one of the most festive Worcester hotels, it would only make sense for us to bring out our tried and trusted traditions to really get our guests in the festive feel.

Game-playing

It wouldn’t be Christmas without getting your grandpa involved in a game of Twister, trying to guess your dad’s cryptic clues at Charades or becoming quietly competitive in a game of Monopoly. Love it or hate it – we think a good round of games is the silent champion of Christmas Day. That’s why our New Year’s Eve Party Night  is all about having fun and good times, with help from our disco and DJ.

Though games may not be universally popular they do have a special way of bringing the family together and after all, that is what Christmas is all about.

Food and More Food

Food glorious food. Of course the pinnacle of Christmas is the coming together of family, the sharing of well-wishes and the opportunity to relax from your day-to-day but a close second to family has to be the delicious food we can’t wait to indulge on. Think traditional turkey, gorgeous gravy and of course we cannot forget the Christmas cranberry – the unsung hero that will top off all the festive flavours on your plate. Food is very close to our hearts at the Bank House which is why we’re putting on Festive Sunday Lunch until the 30th December – for those who cannot wait and for those who cannot get enough.

Stockings Hung

Whether you choose to hang it up above the fireplace or from your bedpost, the stocking tradition is one to be relished at Christmastime. Naughty or nice, nobody wants presents substituted for a piece of coal so we suggest being on your best behaviour until Christmas arrives! Gift-giving has become a prominent staple of Christmas and though the modern child may have outgrown the traditional sock-shaped stocking and moved onto more of a sack, we think that it’s the simplicity of the gesture that really makes the stocking so wonderful.

Light Viewing

Some may remain loyal to The Queen’s Speech and some may have opted for something more light-hearted – a movie that requires little brainpower and lots of laughter. All we know is that after all that Christmas Pudding there is no better activity than relaxing on the sofa in front of the TV, with the log fire burning, the chocolates being shared around the room and the sound of your grandad snoring as you watch your favourite film for the third time in the row. If relaxing gets a little much for certain parties, there are plenty of things to do in Worcestershire – take a refreshing winter’s walk to burn off that extra plate of food in the Malvern Hills or take a trip to the Worcester Cathedral.

Yes, there really is no time quite like Christmas and at the Bank House we love putting on a variety of different festive themed events to host our lovely guests, come this magical time.

If you’re looking for a few last-minute activities to fill up your Christmas calendars, look no further. We think there are no other Worcester hotels  quite like ours when it comes to Christmas – take a look at our website to find out what we’re talking about.
