National Cream Tea Day – 2 4 1 Cream Tea’s
Just tea for two, and two for tea. Join us this National Cream Tea Day…
Date: Friday 29th June 2018 (ONLY) | Price: £7.50 per person
The origins of Cream Tea, as well as how to serve it, are always up for lively debate. Many believe that this tradition dates back to before the 11th century, when monks and clergy ate the treat at Tavistock Abbey in Devon. Then, they ate their meal with bread, cream and jam. There is also reference found in a 1931 newspaper cutting of The Cornishman, which refers to this afternoon delight in the more modern way.
Nowadays, Cream Tea is served simply with home pressed seasonal jam and rich clotted cream from Devon – at least, here at the Bank House it is!
To celebrate National Cream Tea Day, we will be offering diners an exclusive two-for-one deal on our Cream Tea. Our Afternoon Tea offering is extensive and always well received, too, so be sure to take a look and see if that tickles your fancy.
And while we won’t be drawn on whether it is better to serve Cream Tea cream or jam first, be sure to take a look at our Cream Tea menu – as long as you enjoy eating it, that’s all that matters!
